11mths - Baby Fair @ Expo

28.02.2009 – It’s Ashton’s Birthday today!

My parents & Jorel’s parent turned up early for the Baby Fair. It was my parents’ desire to enter me for a crawling contest before I start walking. No way Daddy & Mommy are going to let this last chance slip away because I will be overqualified for such event after I turn one.

Just 3 days before my birthday, my parents’ wish come true. It supposed to be just for fun experience but luck shines on us when I come in first unexpectedly. Phew…! ;)

Thursday

11 mths - Lunar birth date

20.02.2009 – Today is lunar zhen yue er shi liu, my Chinese birthdate and I finally put my best foot forward. Hehe… manage to walk two-steps without any support today.

21.02.2009 – Daddy sent me to Ah Ma’s place to serve my respect to the OKEs ancestors. There were lots of kuei kueis that look like soft red turtles’ shell and their names is “Ang Gu Kuei”

I saw two huge ones that were almost bigger than my tiny head. Ah Ma laid a layer of plastic sheet over the two huge ang gu kueis and instructed me to step on them.
“gao gao chye you de zhi”

Eyes on the roasted drumstick~ is it for me???

Infront of the huge ang gu kueis were book, toy car, ruler, scholar brush, money, calculator & drumstick. I look around and that $100 note really interests me. I made my move to pick up the $100 note but Ah Ma took it away.

Never mind, the small buttons on the calculator look fun too. Maybe if I press the buttons, music will come out? I picked up the calculator but Ah Ma took it away from me again.

Then I pick the book lor… at least there are pictures to look at. But… but… why they snatched it from my hands again?

Arrghh… I grab the drumstick, I wanted to have a bite but AGAIN someone took it away from me.

Give up… I don’t want to play anymore. Maybe I should just grab the small ang gu kuei further ahead of me.

* Video will be upload soon...

Monday

11 months - Feb'09 Outing

15.02.2009 – A visit to National Museum. Arrghhh… Along the hall only cos I felt asleep minutes we went in. *Yawn*

Mommy, I know it’s good to start me with barefoot because the longer I walk without shoes, the better as this will allow my tiny feets to develop naturally. However, at Outdoor; walking barefoot might cause dangers of infection through accidental cuts and to severe contusions, sprains or fractures.

So bring out my shoes next time okay?
15.02.2009 – When I was 4mths old, I swam alone in a huge white lookalike basin with a neckfloat. When I turned 6mths, I am still on that uneasy neckfloat with Daddy and Mommy will sit at one corner, watching us having fun and getting ready the camera and towel. Just as I am about to turn one, my parents bought me a sitting float. This time round, I have both Daddy & Mommy into the pool. Cool… ;)

11 Months - 8th day of CNY

02.02.2009 - How time files, I am turning ONE in a few weeks time.

Daddy is busy with his assignment & Mommy been busy with work. Not matter how busy, Mommy still finds time in the middle of the nights to source for the perfect party venue and do up the invitation card.

This time round, Daddy & Mommy aim to keep the group small with just both families and a few friends only. I can’t wait to see what’s Mommy & Daddy have planned for me. One thing for sure, I will definitely grow up love celebrating Birthdays. =)

Customized invitation from Mommy. ;p

Monday

11 months - 7th day of CNY

01.02.2009 – 人日 , the 7th day of CNY. It’s every man’s Birthday!
All uncles & aunties gathered at popo’s place for dinner and all of us must eat seven vegetables on this day.

My toy trumpet was spoiled and my parents are not replacing a new one yet. The sound from the toy recorder does not sound so exciting as my old trumpet. Luckily, there were leftovers holographic blowouts from the last Christmas for me to play with.

I visited a car accessories shop with Uncle Huihui and my parents just before dinner. Back home, I entertained the adults with holographic blowouts; they played ball games with me and trapped me in a laundry basket. I stayed cool throughout. Even when Uncle Xiang lifted the basket up and walked me to the dinning table, I do not cry. I am a brave baby. =p
See me blow…
What am I doing inside this row of tyres… ???

Wednesday

10th Month - Start of CNY (Part I)

25.01.2009 - Reunion dinner - 1st half for popo’s yu-sheng (Lo Hei) & steamboat and 2nd half for ah ma’s dinner. I am still having my milk feed and porridge as usual.
First experience with CNY Lo hei - Popo's homemade!
The adults tossing up good fortune
Popo's steamboat feast

No adult food yet for me as most of them are chemically processed. They are a potential choking hazard, may develop allergy and my little kidneys are not strong enough to handle too much salt. Too much salt not only cause damage, it has also been linked to diabetes later in life. No sweet stuff because sugar causes tooth decay and obesity and harmful in other ways too.

Mommy has the most tooth decay among the CHINs and somewhat cost her a bomb for many many years. It was all started when she was a baby, took a long time to finish her milk, long time to chew when she was a kid and used to hate brushing her teethes.

Lesson was learned and Mommy will avoid giving me extra sugar for as long as possible and Daddy, pls be more co-operative.

After the reunion dinners, we head to JB with the OKEs for firecrackers. Everyone have lots of fun. I may not know what's going on but I will definitely experience it again when I grow up.

It was 11.40pm when I returned Singapore. The CHINs' started giving out ang pows when the clock strike 12am and I was made to do my first pai nian in the middle of the nite. Summary of this CNY = Tired...

26.01.2009 – It’s 1st day of CNY and all OKEs gathered at Ah Tai’s place for CNY visiting and gambling.

I was nervous and cranky because of unfamiliar place, faces & noise. The Uncles & Aunties were very nice to me, carried me around, talk to me, feed me, play with me and eventually I got warmed up and started performing “Hello”, “gong xi”, “clap hands” & “Bye Bye”. =p
Spot-check... got to make sure Daddy bought all my CNY toolsQuick rehearsal at the void deck… "gongxi, gongxi"I was satisfied with my act, so was Mommy.

Friday

10th Months - CNY coming

22.01.2009 – We accompanied Mommy for facial in the morning. While waiting, Daddy and I went strolling at Plaza Singapore.

In the afternoon, Daddy sent Mommy to NSC for her appointment before bringing me to visit his office. Mommy had a bad acne infection on her right cheek when I was developing in her tummy and she has been taking medicine for nearly a year. This time round, doctor finally decided to give her a jab and hopefully it gets well with a bit of scar only and need not return to NSC again.

After that, Daddy & Mommy brought me to Chinatown to experience the festive mood as well as to support Auntie Yen. Ops… maybe I should call her Yen jiejie instead... ;p She has a stall along Sago Street and this was her first attempt selling Chinese sausages with a partner.

Here we reached CHINATOWN!!! Nice to see, nice to touch but none for me…
Look at this cute Monkey hitting the drum!
Mommy says CNY must eat abit Nian Gao
Yummy sweets! But I can’t have it until at least two years old.

Wednesday

10th Month

02.01.2009 to 13.01.2009 – Daddy & Mommy have not been feeling well since the 2nd day of 2009. They were having on-off fever, chills, headache, pain upon moving eyes, low backache for the first five days before their whole body start bursting with flushing itchy rash and low platelet.

It was dengue fever and numerous of blood tests were taken to monitor the platelet. Lemongrass & cinnamon sticks were placed at every corner of the house and mosquito coils were burn in the mornings. Mommy pray that this will not hit them 2nd time, else it will be even worse.

At the same time, Daddy & Mommy were glad in a way that they are the ones who got it and not me or other members in the family. Luckily, dengue is not contagious and I still continue to sleep with Daddy & Mommy.

It was finally over and my parents have return work today after a week of medical leaves. Mommy’s rash was almost cleared but not for Daddy.

I wish daddy a speedy recovery.
