10th Month - Start of CNY (Part I)

25.01.2009 - Reunion dinner - 1st half for popo’s yu-sheng (Lo Hei) & steamboat and 2nd half for ah ma’s dinner. I am still having my milk feed and porridge as usual.

No adult food yet for me as most of them are chemically processed. They are a potential choking hazard, may develop allergy and my little kidneys are not strong enough to handle too much salt. Too much salt not only cause damage, it has also been linked to diabetes later in life. No sweet stuff because sugar causes tooth decay and obesity and harmful in other ways too.

Mommy has the most tooth decay among the CHINs and somewhat cost her a bomb for many many years. It was all started when she was a baby, took a long time to finish her milk, long time to chew when she was a kid and used to hate brushing her teethes.

Lesson was learned and Mommy will avoid giving me extra sugar for as long as possible and Daddy, pls be more co-operative.

After the reunion dinners, we head to JB with the OKEs for firecrackers. Everyone have lots of fun. I may not know what's going on but I will definitely experience it again when I grow up.

It was 11.40pm when I returned Singapore. The CHINs' started giving out ang pows when the clock strike 12am and I was made to do my first pai nian in the middle of the nite. Summary of this CNY = Tired...

26.01.2009 – It’s 1st day of CNY and all OKEs gathered at Ah Tai’s place for CNY visiting and gambling.

I was nervous and cranky because of unfamiliar place, faces & noise. The Uncles & Aunties were very nice to me, carried me around, talk to me, feed me, play with me and eventually I got warmed up and started performing “Hello”, “gong xi”, “clap hands” & “Bye Bye”. =p
Spot-check... got to make sure Daddy bought all my CNY toolsQuick rehearsal at the void deck… "gongxi, gongxi"I was satisfied with my act, so was Mommy.

10th Months - CNY coming

22.01.2009 – We accompanied Mommy for facial in the morning. While waiting, Daddy and I went strolling at Plaza Singapore.

In the afternoon, Daddy sent Mommy to NSC for her appointment before bringing me to visit his office. Mommy had a bad acne infection on her right cheek when I was developing in her tummy and she has been taking medicine for nearly a year. This time round, doctor finally decided to give her a jab and hopefully it gets well with a bit of scar only and need not return to NSC again.

After that, Daddy & Mommy brought me to Chinatown to experience the festive mood as well as to support Auntie Yen. Ops… maybe I should call her Yen jiejie instead... ;p She has a stall along Sago Street and this was her first attempt selling Chinese sausages with a partner.

Here we reached CHINATOWN!!! Nice to see, nice to touch but none for me…
Look at this cute Monkey hitting the drum!

Wednesday

10th Month

02.01.2009 to 13.01.2009 – Daddy & Mommy have not been feeling well since the 2nd day of 2009. They were having on-off fever, chills, headache, pain upon moving eyes, low backache for the first five days before their whole body start bursting with flushing itchy rash and low platelet.

It was dengue fever and numerous of blood tests were taken to monitor the platelet. Lemongrass & cinnamon sticks were placed at every corner of the house and mosquito coils were burn in the mornings. Mommy pray that this will not hit them 2nd time, else it will be even worse.

At the same time, Daddy & Mommy were glad in a way that they are the ones who got it and not me or other members in the family. Luckily, dengue is not contagious and I still continue to sleep with Daddy & Mommy.

It was finally over and my parents have return work today after a week of medical leaves. Mommy’s rash was almost cleared but not for Daddy.

I wish daddy a speedy recovery.
